Stand Up Paddle Boarding (or SUP) is performed on a 9-11 ft surfboard that has a wide and stable top that was made to stand on. Using a one-bladed paddle you stand with your feet parallel and paddle on both sides of the board using your core muscles to stablize your body on a moving surface (water). SUP provides a full body workout for everyone regardless of your fitness level. It is an all encompassing mind/body experience as you connect with nature in a serene atmosphere.
SUP is whatever you make it. A relaxing scenic stroll, a challenging concentrated effort as in a fitness class, or an outright race to the finish. Whatever you choose to do, we will make it happen for you!

* This is a very easy sport to learn. In about an hours time our instructors will have you standing
up on a board, paddling and having fun! Advanced stroke techniques and maneuverability are available but not necessary. We have had success with students age 12 to 75. They say if you can walk, you can SUP.

* Regular SUP (3x a week or more) will build tremendous core strength and will improve your overall fitness from head to toe!

* SUP is a great way to connect with family and friends, it is easy to let the time melt away enjoying your surroundings and socializing, or make it your date night out.

* For women especially SUP is a very empowering sport. For the goal oriented outdoor enthusiast, this is a sport that is easy to master and take your skills with you wherever you or your board may go! It can also be quite meditative to connect with nature one-on-one.

We recommend wearing a swim suit or board shorts with a top.  You likely will not end up in the water at all, so once you start paddling around in the sun, you’ll likely get warm.
Footwear:  Most people paddle barefoot and are fine.  A pair of aquasox or water shoes can be used.

Launch is close to shop.

Just your chosen paddling wear, applied sunscreen and excitement!  We’ll have the correct size board and paddle waiting for you.

A light mist in the hot weather is okay for paddling, but no paddling in heavy rain or thunderstorms! We will then reschedule. If in doubt, please call. Also, if we deem the water conditions for the day dangerous we reserve the right to reschedule (safety first).

Yes, just sign up for a group lesson and you will be added into a group at the specified time. Remember, private lessons are also available.

No, but it is not required. If you want to let your instructor know what a great job he or she did, it is a way to do that! Or referrals are always welcome too!

Yes, we love to! It is a great way to get kids involved in a fun sport and outdoors! We do weddings, bachelorette parties, birthdays and whatever you can dream up!

Weather Delays: All lessons/classes will take place at their scheduled time as long as the weather permits. Walk on Water reserves the right to postpone lessons/classes at their discretion due to weather or conditions they deem unsafe. If conditions or weather prevent the lesson/class from taking place, the lesson/class will be rescheduled for future convenient time or credit will be issued for future lesson/classes.

Cancellations: All cancellations will incur a $25 processing fee. Lessons/classes may be cancelled up to 72 hours before the scheduled lesson/class to obtain a full refund, less the processing fee. Lessons/classes cancelled up to 48 hours before scheduled lesson/class time will be refunded half of the lesson/class price, less processing fee. Cancellation made 48 hours or less before scheduled lesson/class is not eligible for refunds.

Rescheduling: If there are open times, you may reschedule so up to 48 hours prior to your scheduled lesson/class. If there are no open times, cancellation terms will apply. Lessons/classes may be rescheduled one time only.

No Shows: There is no refund or re-scheduling for no-show lessons/classes.
